DrTim's Aquatics Ammonium Chloride is a pure, chlorine-free liquid solution that contains reagent grade ammonium chloride for use during fishless cycling. Fishless cycling is a process of establishing nitrifying bacteria without the use of "sacrificial fish" to balance ammonia and nitrite levels when creating a healthy tank ecosystem. This method helps avoid stressing the fish or other aquarium inhabitants.
When used in tandem with DrTim's Aquatics One & Only Nitrifying Bacteria, the ammonium chloride solution helps create a biofilter that removes toxic ammonia and nitrite naturally, establishing a healthy ecosystem for new fish. The recommended usage is to use the entire contents of the One & Only Live Nitrifying Bacteria solution at one time, with a minimum dose of 10mL (2 capfuls) per 10 gallons of aquarium water. Then, add 4 drops of the Ammonium Chloride solution per gallon of aquarium water. The user should wait 24 hours to measure the ammonia, nitrite, and pH levels, and continue testing for about 8 days until the ammonia and nitrite levels are below 0.5.
